Sept. 22, 2006 -- Jane Eisele "Also known around Dobbins as Miss Jane" shows off the tree she raised from a seedling for placement in the park. The new tree will provide a bright yellow fall color to go with the Autumn Red Maples that surround the park. A former nurse with the Air Force, she conducted physicals at Dobbins Air Force Base for Airman headed to the Korean War in the early fifties. After retirement, she operated Miss Jane’s restaurant across U.S 41 from the base.
Summer, 2006 -- Below is a Navy reenlistment ceremony held at the Dobbins POW/MIA Memorial Park. The oath was conducted in front of the Vietnam POW/MIA wall. Sorry, we don't have the names of the participants, but the photo was taken by Randy Lovely. The Navy Dispensary is located behind the trees above the park.

Park Sponsor Update April. 12, 2007

April 12 2007 - With the replacement of the home page photo, we didn't want to lose the first home page photo. Taken before the park dedication in Sept 2005, the park had just been mowed and pressure washed. The Autumn Red maple tree in the left center was from the 2003 Tree Planting ceremony. That was the last ceremony attended by Ms. Libby Scarberry who championed the cause of POWs and MIAs for 20 years and promoted the creation of a park long before it became a reality. She passed away in early 2004.

The 2004 Tree Planting ceremony was washed out by Hurricane Ivan. The rain hit early, but the winds hit town for real around 2:00 that afternoon. USAFR Brigadier General (retired) James Sehorn, a Vietnam POW and Georgia Inspector General, was scheduled as the keynote speaker for the dedication.

May 25, 2006 -- Above, the POW/MIA flag flies with the Joint Services flags as the breeze picks up at Dobbins Air Reserve Base. And below, a new set of steps leads from the general parking lot down to the park's handicapped parking lot.
