2005 Contributors

  • You can't measure the contributions made by reservists from the 94th Civil Engineer Squadron who have spent five years planning and building the park and for putting the finishing touches on the concrete work and raising the flag poles before the dedication.
  • Special thanks to the guest speakers who traveled overnight and volunteered their time to dedication. Lt. Commander Stephen Harris from Boston and Carolyn Whitsell from Nashville.
  • Thanks to USAA for their 200 dollar donation that was applied to the flags raised over the park on Sept 22. That's the insurance company. USAA began in 1922, when military officers formed a member-owned insurance company and created a company to meet the needs of the military and their families.
  • A 450 dollar contribution from the Dobbins Air Force Sergeants Association and its Auxiliary to help cover expenses for the dedication and the reception.
  • And 200 dollars from the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. This group has been helping with the park's tree planting for many of the 21 years. Their money went to the purchase of the red maple tree and helped with the cost of reception at the Consolidated Club.
  • A host of units at Dobbins ARB and Naval Air Station Atlanta contributed to making the dedication a special day. Among them were students from the Transportation Proficiency Center, the 700th Airlift Squadron, Public Affairs, troops from the 80th Aerial Port Squadron, our sound man, David Felix, and the Joint Services Color Guard.
  • Thanks to our host, Col. Steve Slick, our master of ceremonies, Chief Master Sergeant Les Davy, and AFSA representative Betty Tomason.
