  • A new year for fundraising. We begin with an anonymous donation of flags that has worked its way through the system, and now our new flags are ready for raising. It's a significant donation when you consider the cost of flags for the park. The Chiefs Group spent 250 dollars last year to raise the first set of flags at the park. There are five flags altogether, and it's an ongoing expense to keep them looking good. Many thanks to our donor.
  • The order is in and Mableton Marble and Granite has given us a nice discount on four monuments for the park and will install the first plaque for us. These monuments should be in place in the month of June.
  • Our first donation came from the VFW Rainbow Post in Marietta for $100. Members of this post and its Auxiliary have been supporters of the Tree Planting Ceremony for years and we sure do appreciate the donation from Leon Dean and his group.
  • Andy Yrabedra and his fellow VFW members from Woodstock, Ga. gave us $50 to further the cause of the park and we appreciate it. Here's Andy and his officers.
  • With a little guidance from the Cobb County Parks and Recreation, we touched base with Wood & Partners Inc, a landscape architecture firm in Atlanta. They really gave us a view of what the park can be. Click here to see their products. We'll use their drawings to promote the park in the future. And a special thanks to Harry Housen, Brian Albini and Mathew Israel for all of their work.
  • And a special thanks to Fred Gaines of the Air Force Sergeants Association for his $150 gift to the park.
  • Speaking of AFSA, the local chapter had provided the Dobbins Chiefs Group with a $300 gift to meet the granite monument expenses.
  • And thanks to Christian Stevens, the Airborne Ranger from Alpharetta's VFW chapter for his support.
  • Once again Marietta Trophy has helped us with memorializing the park by providing the Korean War memorial plaque.
  • He's been with us all along, and Don Peek, Dobbins base photographer, is a great asset to our decoration efforts. Don provides many of the photos of the site, supports us in fund raising, and ensures the park stays visually in the news.
  • Chapter 452 of the Air Force Sergeants Association has donated $120 to help with the expenses of this web page.
  • Our Dobbins Chiefs Group provided money ($960) to cover this year's plaque expense.
  • Thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 2681 in Marietta, and their president Wilma Clark, for their long-term support and for the $150 to help support the park's ceremony and reception.
